Who transports bulk diethyl ether in Mexico?

TRESAL transports diethyl ether for Mexican industry in dedicated stainless-steel tank trucks, without consolidating third-party freight, with nationwide coverage from its bases in Cuautitlán Izcalli (Greater Mexico City) and San Luis Potosí.

What is diethyl ether used for?

Diethyl ether (ethyl ether) is used as a solvent and extraction agent in the chemical, pharmaceutical and laboratory industries, and as an engine starting fluid.

How is diethyl ether transported safely?

Diethyl ether is an extremely flammable liquid (flash point ~ -45 °C) whose vapors are very heavy and can form explosive peroxides over time with exposure to air and light. It requires a dedicated stainless-steel unit, bonding and grounding, strict ignition-source control, exclusion of air and light, segregation from oxidizers, spill prevention and verified washing.

What handling precautions does diethyl ether require?

Diethyl ether is extremely flammable, its vapors have an anesthetic effect and it can form peroxides. TRESAL personnel control ignition sources, use PPE, keep the area ventilated, prevent vapor buildup and follow emergency procedures.

Is diethyl ether a regulated essential chemical?

Yes. Diethyl ether is an essential chemical under Mexico’s Federal Law for the Control of Chemical Precursors, Essential Chemicals and Capsule/Tablet-Making Machines, which regulates its transport among other activities. TRESAL transports it in compliance with the applicable hazardous-materials transport regulations, with the traceability we provide for all our shipments.

Does TRESAL issue the safety data sheet (SDS)?

No. Under NOM-018-STPS-2015, the safety data sheet (SDS) is prepared by and is the responsibility of the manufacturer or importer of the chemical, not the carrier. As a carrier, TRESAL obtains the SDS from the shipper of each load and carries it on board for reference and emergency response; we neither issue nor replace that document. This separation of responsibilities is part of the regulatory compliance we provide.
